Shibab-ud-din Omar Khalji (5 January – April 1316)
Shibab-ud-din Omar (5 January – April 1316) ascended the throne as a minor, with the support of Alauddin's slave-general Malik Kafur. He was just six years old. Now, Malik Kafur was the most powerful man in the Kingdom. As the regent of the sultan, Malik Kafur became the defacto ruler. Shihabuddin's participation in governance was limited to his appearance in a short court ceremony that was held daily by Kafur. After the ceremony, Kafur would send Shihabuddin to his mother, and held separate meetings to issue orders to the various officers.
To maintain his control over the throne, Kafur had Alauddin's sons Khizr Khan and Shadi Khan blinded. He also imprisoned Alauddin's senior queen Malika-i Jahan and Mubarak Shah, another adult son of Alauddin. Kafur married Alauddin's widow Jhatyapalli, the mother of Shihabuddin. Thus attempted to consolidate his position.
However, the formar bodyguards of Alluddin, disapproved the actions of Mailk Kafur and killed him. By the time Mubarak shah escaped from his captivity. Mubarak Shah initially became the regent of Shihabuddin. But later himself became sultan and killed Shihabuddin.
