Ghiyath-ud-din Tughluq Shah II (20 September 1388 – February 18, 1389)
Ghiyath-ud-din Tughlaq Shah II, born Tughluq Khan, was the son of Fateh Khan, the grandson of Feroz Shah Tughlaq. He ascended the throne (1388 CE) after the death of Firoz Shah Tughlaq. With this the first part of civil war between the Tughlaqs started.
An utterly worthless ruler, frivolous and addicted to sensual pleasures, he tried to imprison his brothers and other claimants.
Sent an army to capture Muhammad Khan at Sirmur who further fled to Nagarkot. His cousin Abu Bakar, son of Zafar Khan (third son of Firoz) also escaped.
Abu Bakar formed a conspiracy against Ghiyath which was supported by most of the nobles. Finally Abu Bakar attacked the sultan’s palace with the help of Rukn-ud din, deputy wazir of Ghiyath. Ghiyath was caught while escaping and immediately beheaded (February, 1389).
