Abu Bakar Shah (AH 791-793/1389-1390 AD)
As Ghiyath Shah Tughlaq II was executed, his nemesis, Abu Bakar paraded through the city of Dehli, seated on an elephant with a canopy over his head and proclaimed himself as sultan (February 19, 1389). His co-conspirator, Rukn-ud din became the wazir.
However his rule was never peaceful as the nobles in Samana revolted and invited Muhammad bin Firuz (the exiled heir, son of Firuz Shah Tughlaq) to lead them. Muhammad, proclaimed himself king (April 1389), collected an army and marched towards Dehli. Delhi now became the seat of the civil war, and the nobles of the court joined one side or the other according to their interests or inclinations. As Muhammad was defeated by Abu Bakr, he fled to Doab, where other nobles joined him. The noble Nasir ul Mulk joined him and given the title Khjizir Khan. Muhammad made multiple attempts towards Dehli but failed. However he had control over many districts north and west of Dehli including Lahore, Multan, Hissar. Humayun, the son of Muhammad plundered the area outside city wals of Dehli but defeated by Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr, then decided to attack the Muhammad stronghold at Jalesar. But as he left Dehli, Muhammad elluded his force and occupied Dehli. Abu Bakr retraced his path and though temporarily reclaimed Dehli, one of his nobels, Islam Khan, the Commander of the household troops, turned against him, forcing Abu Bakr escape to Mewat. Muhammad occupied Dehli finally and declared himself Sultan (August 1390). The Sultan now recruited a new army and sent it against Abu Bakr under his son Humayun and wazir Islam Khan. Abu Bakr was defeated and captured, and kept a prisoner in the fort of Mirat where he died
